Perfectly Personalized

In Accessories on September 30, 2010 at 11:34 am

Carrie Bradshaw was the first iconic trendsetter to launch the personality initial jewelry with her well known ‘Carrie’ necklace. Fast forward 10 years and initial necklaces are back and they are as cute as ever! As seen Glee around Rachel’s neck, this gold initial necklace is delicate and cute without being narcissistic. The Zoe Chicco Personalized Necklace is simple and elegant with its script style and 15″ length.

Layer your initial necklace with other long necklaces or wear alone — these simple adornments are versatile and be worn anyway you want!

The Luxe Finish

In Fashion on September 29, 2010 at 9:40 am

Our newest obsession — the perfect little (faux) fur in the form of a long vest. Faux fur is back and its hotter than ever. Gone are the over the knee fur coats that PETA activists throw paint on….in are the imitation — but look real–fur vests which add luxury and practical warmth to our winter looks. The weather is finally cooperating and we can start to rock these Russian-Diva inspired vests. Just remember to not go to cheap when buying this trendy item. Cheap looking, faux fur is never in style.

Here are some of my favorite Faux Fur Vests:
Halston Heritage Faux Fur Gilet $375.00

Michael Kors Faux Fur Coyote Vest $130.00

Rachel Zoe Faux Fur Vest $79.80

Rebecca Taylor Silk and Twill Faux Fur Gilet
$395.00

Best Hairspray – Hairs Down

In Beauty on September 24, 2010 at 10:19 am

Beauty product lovers and celebrity stylists have long considered L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray a cult classic and a must-have in your bathroom. Banished from the US for a few years (because of Chloral Floral Carbons and fear for our ozone layer), L’Oreal has remade the Elnett Satin Hairspray sans CFC and now trigger-happy stylists can keep spraying without any buildup or stiffness.

This hairspray is so fine that it disappears with the stroke of a brush but has superior hold. New York City hair guru Helena Faccenda gushes that it’s “the greatest hairspray in the world. I will not go to work without a can in my bag.”

Green with Envy

In Beauty on September 23, 2010 at 9:54 am

The autumn season always brings an influx of cozy wardrobe changes and fun, new cosmetic colors. This Fall, Green Eye Makeup is a great neutral for brown and hazel eyed girls. “I consider green a neutral eye shadow, but it’s important to be very measured when you use it,” says makeup artist Pati Dubroff, who works with Jessica Biel, Amanda Seyfried and Megan Fox. Green eyeshadow has a magical way of bringing out the golden flecks in your eyes, as shown on Demi Moore and Freida Pinto.

Keep the shade below the crease of the lid to avoid looking overdone, and reach for a brown liner for definition. A smudge under the bottom lashline can also have subtle impact. An emerald twist to the classic smoky eye is always a great way to change up your outfit and look.

Here are some of my favorite Greens:

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil in Peacock Green $17.00

L’Oreal HIP Shocking Shadow Pigments in Striving $12.00

MAC To the Beach Eye Shadow in Humid $14.50

TokiDoki Punk Lash Mascara in Mad Rocker Green $18.00

Coveted Cargo

In Fashion on September 22, 2010 at 3:59 pm

Don’t miss out on the most coveted look this season, Cargo Skinny Pants. Amanda Seyfried, Vanessa Hudgens, Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna, Kate Bosworth and Jessica Alba – have been seen wearing the J Brand Houlihan Skinny Cargo Pants and I haven’t even gotten to half of them yet. These pants are so-in and so hot!

Incorporate military-chic into your wardrobe with these J Brand cargo pants — a wardrobe must-have. Pocket and zip detailing add edgy appeal, so pair with sleek, simple pumps or chunky leather sandals. Top with a long cardigan, T-shirt or sequin top (for more dressy occasions).

Glee Season 2 Style

In Fashion on September 21, 2010 at 11:42 am

Like most Glee fanatics, I am STOKED for tonights season two premiere and by the grace of God we have found access, via Glee stylist, Lou Eyrich to a sneak peak at the show’s wardrobe.

This season, Rachel Berry’s wardrobe grows up (from girlish skirts to womanly dresses), Tina goes Steampunk (“It’s like old Victorian meets modern meets futuristic”) and Kurt, now out of the closet, pushes his high-fashion style a little further. Eyrich is just careful to keep the looks appropriate for Ohio high schoolers. “This show is not really about fashion, it’s about character,” says Eyrich, who shops for the cast at H&M, Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters. Music to my ears!

Check out these looks to dress like your favorite Glee member:

Rachel Berry:
Forever21 Chiffon Contrast Sweater $22.80
Urban Outfitters Cooperative Full Picnic Skirt $48.00

Emma Pilsbury:
Urban Outfitters Pins and Needles Short Sleeved Rugby Stripped Sweater $48.00

BDG Twill Grazer Cigarette Pant $49.00

Quinn Fabray
Forever21 Vintage Baby Doll Dress $27.80

Bottled Youth

In Beauty on September 20, 2010 at 4:39 pm

Truth serum? I’m not sure if I want my cosmetic arsenal to start telling the truth about my anti-aging skin routine…maybe the better name would be Youth Serum? Just saying. Ole Henriksen‘ has created an amazing ten-percent vitamin C (which is proven to brighten your skin) skin booster and antiaging treatment firms and smoothes, delivering more radiant skin. The weightless, fast-absorbing, oil-free formula penetrates to deep layers of the skin, offering instant and long-term hydration, nourishment, and antioxidant protection against environmental aggressors.

Sounds pretty amazing! Sephora seemed to think so too. They named Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster
a top Sephora natural product. And because of this nod, I’m sold! Also, at the end of the day, we want to be like Cher and ‘turn back time’; so this product seems like a step in the right direction…backwards.

Over the Knee Love

In Shoes on September 17, 2010 at 2:49 pm

Like Superman around Kryptonite, we find ourselves powerless in the presence of fall’s most unstoppable footwear fad: the over-the-knee boot. And this season, we’ll be seen with an equestrian edge in Guess’ over-the-knee riding boots. Over the Knee riding boots add instant structure to your outfit and just a bit of mystery. Yeah…I ride horses (wink). There are so many types of boots out there these days, but these OTK (over the knee) riding boots are the most versatile. Wear them with leggings, skinny jeans, a short skirt or shorts and you are good to go!
